Woop woop! Welcome to the awesomeness that is ROOM 4, YEAR 6, WELLSFORD SCHOOL 2012!
Week 8, Term 4 - Wow, tell me where 2012 went? This year has flown by but, in true Room 4 style, you have all managed to achieve a lot and have a heap of fun along the way! This year has been one of the best, and our trips to Rainbows End and Waiwera Hot Pools really topped it off! Now as we finish the year off with formal prize givings, cleaning the class, and finishing off those last little bits and pieces, I hope you all take a moment to reflect on how far YOU have come this year. I know that 2013 will be a great year again at Wellsford School because we are going to have fabulous Year 7 role models to lead the rest of the school! Thank you all so much for making my 2012 AMAZING, and I look forward to seeing you all next year! Keep updating your Wiki's over the holidays, I will be sure to check in! SKUXX 6'S - YOU ARE THE BEST! MERRY CHRISTMAS AND HAVE A SAFE AND HAPPY HOLIDAY! x
Week 6, Term 4 - Oopsy! So it has been a while since my last update and soooooooooo much has happened since then! We have had our annual Calf and Lamb Day (which was great fun!), Athletics day (no word on which house won yet!) and we have started our class yearbook for 2012. Oh, did I mention our awesome cupcake decorating that raised us $566.40? AND the fact that we have already got our class points target which means... RAINBOWS END HERE WE COME! Yes, the end of the year is fast approaching and although I am looking forward to two great trips, I am NOT looking forward to saying goodbye to the Skuxx 6's! Let's make these last few weeks count guys and girls!

Week 1, Term 4 - We got straight into Geometry by using the ActivBoard tools to help us transform patterns using reflection on the X and Y axis. They are going to look FAB when they are done!

I hope to share some of these ideas with you all when I get back! Apart from all of the learning I also saw Richard Kahui yesterday! And guess what? Mrs Ketter didn't even know who he was! Haha! I am staying in a cool hotel with Mrs Ketter, Mrs Crawford, and Miss Tindle. Check the pic of us having mexican for dinner! Tonight we have a fancy dinner with a 'disco' theme - I will try post some pix if I can! Miss you all lots and can't wait to get back to school! P.S: I hope you had a great trip George! Week 10, Term 3 - What a FULL ON week! Our Year 5/6 Rippa team (including Room 4 members Julie, Sahrai, Toria, Tamara. Georgia, Javarne, Aiden & Jordan) travelled down to Wellington with Mr Lees and Mrs Dewes to compete in the National Rippa Rugby tournament. They had a great time meeting Black Ferns and All Blacks, visiting Te Papa, and of course playing some great rippa! The team finished 10th out of 20 teams, but more importantly they showed NZRU bosses how respectful and grateful they were by being the best behaved kids out! We are all proud of you guys! In other sporting news, Wellsford took on Mangawhai in the Winter Sports Exchange... who won the trophy? WELLSFORD! Well done to all who participated in the sports of netball, basketball, rugby, and soccer! You are AWESOME! Next week is the last week of Term 3 - Mrs Dewes is feeling a bit tired, how about you guys and girls?!

Well done! Room 4 also enjoyed watching all of the other talented students and we would like to congratulate everyone who participated. We would also like to thank the Year 7/8 teachers for organising such a great event! DVD's can be purchased from Mr L for $10.00.

Week 7, Term 3 - Well, the disco has been and gone! No, Mr Lees didn't get best dressed but everyone had a great time! Since the disco we farewelled Mrs Rawlinson by having a cool game of 'Survivor' with real food and fizzy (shhhh! Don't tell the dental nurses!) and we had an-cream party. It was cool! We had fun with Mrs Rawlinson and we will miss her! Now we are practicing for the talent show. We are doing an awesome dance remix (with some added surprises) and Mrs Dewes keeps telling us how awesome we are at it! It would be great if we won but it's OK if we don't, we just want to have FUN! Also, our Y5/6 Rippa team are off to Nationals next weekend. We hope they do well and enjoy this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity!

Week 5, Term 3 - Oh it has been a while since I updated and A LOT has happened since Week 1! Sadly, we farewelled three of our superstars - Leon, Aaria, and Kathleen. They have all moved to parts of Northland and we still miss them heaps! In other news, we enjoyed Te Wiki o Te Reo Maori... "we'll have a Maori haaaangi, toniiiiight!" The haka competition was also awesome! The percussion workshops in Week 4 and 5 were good fun and we played our little hearts out with our cool school instruments. Now we are getting ready for our last school disco of the year. The theme is 'Sportastic' - I wonder who will win best-dressed? Perhaps Mr Lees? I'll keep you posted!

Week 1, Term 3 - Welcome back to Term 3 in Room 4 at Wellsford School! I hope you have all had a fun-filled holiday! The Blues have won their last two matches so this teacher is pretty happy! Well, an overview of what's in store for Term 3 will be out this week but let me sum it up for you. We will be charging ahead in maths with Number and Algebra (don't be scared guys, algebra is cool!!), Mrs Rawlinson will be covering your writing and inquiry/topic with some awesome Olympic Games activities, we will finish our AVAILLL programe and move into our 'Under the Mountain' novel study for reading and visual language, and with fitness continuing every morning we will be ready to conquer Mangawhai in the Winter Sports Exchange later this term! Also, our Year 5/6 Rippa team will be busy fundraising for Nationals at the end of the term so expect a few cool raffles and another disco too! Now that we have our own class iPad, Mrs Dewes will also be making sure that we are becoming totally ICT savvy and smart! Oh yes Room 4, this term is going to be great! I'm ready...are you?!
Week 10, Term 2 - We welcomed Mrs Rawlinson (our student teacher) back for another 7 weeks - yay! We also had an awesome progressive dinner for reaching our 16,000 points target for Term 2. We ate lots of food, played spotlight and Dance Central, and then shared some of our work with our parents/caregivers. It was such a fun night! On the last day of term Nicholas and Javarne led assembly - they did a fantastic job! We also did our 'Azonto' dance with Room 13. Mrs Dewes gave us an 11 out of 10 for our performance! Now it's holidays - time to recharge and get ready for another exciting term in Room 4!

Mr Jansen sure whipped his team into shape as they ran their way around Wellsford completing various tasks! A big shout out to the other teams - Tumeke Taniwhaz, The Pretzels, The Champions, and Skuxxinators (my personal favourites!) - for showing that team work can be a lot of fun regardless of whether you win or lose! Also a HUGE thank you to all the parents who joined in - we couldn't of done it without you!In other news, the end of Term 1 has been and gone - where did those 10 weeks go?! Week 2, Term 1This is our awesome Wiki - a place for us to celebrate and share all of the awesomeness that we own!Term 1 has kicked off and already our Skuxx Year 6's are impressing the teacher with their enthusiasm, manners, effort and teamwork! They are quickly becoming the ULTIMATE DREAM TEAM!This term in Room 4 we will spend a great deal of our time learning the rules and routines necessary in order to make us outstanding students! We will also be engaging in a lot of cooperative learning activities to help us function together as a true team! Room 4 students are already working hard to get group points to contribute to a class points target. 7000 points = a possible Mini Amazing Race around Wellsford! Fingers crossed!Of course, there will be A LOT of learning in maths (number and statistics), writing (narrative), reading (AVAILLL programme), PE (swimming and summer sports), and an inquiry topic based around the Rocky Shore (building up to a Goat Island snorkel day!).
